Every week I write a short story about an item that has recently sold on eBay. This story appears in the Friday Entertainment Section of the Telegraph Herald as well as the Current Section of the Sunday TH. Every week “The FLASH” published in Warren, Illinois prints the story. And monthly you will find one featured in The Golden View published in Dubuque, Iowa.

I have been writing this story every week for about 5 years, if you would like an email copy of my weekly story be sure to join our email list and I will send it to you. Look for my book which I will publish in 2020 called “What I sold on eBay last year!” a collection of 52 stories from my weekly writings.

Stories

Art meets religion in this early 19th century theca holding a relic of the True Cross in gold and silver cannetille. Cannetille is a close relative of filigree work. It typically features fine gold wires or thinly hammered sheets of silver. Jewelry with cannetille was very popular in the 1820’s and 1830’s. The center of the cannetille cross holds a relic of the True Cross blessed by Pope Pius XII in 1956. This combination created a value of $2,125.00 after a 10 day auction on eBay.

Storage unit cleanouts are a lot of work, but if you take your time and look through everything, value can be found. A recent 10×20 storage unit that was filled 6-foot-high with boxes of books for 20 years revealed this 1928 Football Program. After 7 days on eBay this 33-page program sold for $976.56.

While on vacation this winter in Orlando, a friend took me to the company surplus store. While shopping the excess inventory and liquidation section I found this framed print. Seeing a limited edition run of only 50 prints and the unique image, I purchased it for $10.00 and shipped it home. We offered it on eBay for a Buy It Now and sold it last week for $600.00.

A family asked us to help clean out the home of a family member that could no longer live on their own. One of the first items we found was this 12-inch-tall Santa, that showed its age, over 100 years old. Posted on eBay at auction we had 10 bidders enter 18 bids with 3 of them entering their bids in the last 10 seconds of the auction. The final price at auction on eBay $1,425.00. Thank you Santa!
